Weekly Update: January 21, 2023

January 21, 2023

Dear Families:

I loved seeing all the winter fun pictures on the Friends FB page. So glad they finally got enough snow to enjoy! I think we were in good company with canceling school Friday; let’s see what Sunday into Monday brings. The prediction for another storm may give us a reason to possibly delay the opening. I will make the call as soon as I can with safety being our priority.

Congratulations to all of our Basketball teams and coaches. Great job!!

Chess Wizards is up and running for another 6 Week Module.

Ski Club will pick up again this Friday (weather permitting) and finish with 5 more weeks to the season.

A program called “Mad Scientist” will be coming to us after the February break. Stay tuned for registration information. Offered in K-6, it’s a fun filled weekly after school program, with experiments and lots of hands-on fun!

We have been working hard to get our web site in good order- and parent volunteer, Jocelyn Fenton has helped us with that over the past week. www.mtstmaryacademy.com is the log in. Getting there and thank you, Jocelyn!

Catholic Schools Week is January 30- February 3. We will be devoting the entire week at celebrating our students, staff and families as we also teach students to give back and carry out service projects all week. We will be collecting clean and gently used coats for “Families in Transition” during that week (adult and children’s coats). Other activities are planned- teachers will be sending home the details.

We will be celebrating our 100th Day in school on February 14. Students will help to plan the day!

We will be running a Summer Camp this Summer and it will be open to Mt St Mary Academy students at all grade levels. Full and part-time. We will have the rate sheet soon. It will start two weeks after school concludes for the academic year.

A very successful Open House last week. We are doing well with our enrollment. Thank you for spreading the word about our academic rigor and faith-based program. Many of the potential new families mentioned your recommendations regarding our school!

Have a great weekend.

Best,

Dr. Kirk, Head of School
