Weekly Update: January 7, 2023

January 7, 2023

Dear Families,

It was a busy first week back after vacation. Fun to see everyone and hear about their time away……and we welcomed six new students to our school. Many inquiries for next year and we are having an OPEN HOUSE on January 18 from 10-11:00am to showcase our school. Ads will be running in the Union Leader this week and we have sent it to local childcare and pediatric offices. Spread the word about our school and the outstanding programs and opportunities at Mt St Mary Academy. If you refer a family and they enroll here, you will receive a credit toward your tuition next year.

In order to plan for next year, we have asked you to send us your “intent to return form” by January 12, along with a $300 registration fee per family. Most private schools follow this timeline, which will also include a deposit by March 1 to finalize your spot. Being proactive with staffing, classroom space, and overall operational planning is critical to keep our school viable, competitive and thriving. We are always happy to work with families to utilize FACTS to support your financial obligations over the long term- just let us know. The new tuition will be approved 1/10 and rate sheet will be available that day as well.

  • This week we will have “Coffee with Head of School” on January 12 at drop off. Please join us.
  • January 13 is an early release day at 11:45 for Staff Professional Development. No Lunch served. No afternoon Bus.
  • Progress Reports will be sent home on January 13.
  • Chess Wizards still has available spots and they will run Wednesdays, January 11-February 15 right here at the Mount. Teachers sent home the flyer last week.
  • Ski Club had an exciting kick off yesterday at McIntyre Ski area. It will run on Fridays, with the exception of 1/13, because of our half day.
  • NO SCHOOL January 16 for MLK, Jr day.
  • Catholic Schools Week is January 29-February 4. We will be planning a Service project with our students. Stay tuned.

Thanks to your support, our Book Fair profit was nearly $2,000. This will go a long way in supporting our classroom and school wide literacy goals. Thank you!

In November we purchased 3 Touch View Screens to replace outdated Smart Boards. This purchase was allowed because of our Fall “Walk A Thon”- And now, because of a very generous anonymous donation, we were able to purchase 5 more 65 inch Touch Views which will be installed this Tuesday. Our teachers will be spending time this Friday learning more about the amazing technology these items are bringing to their classrooms. We can’t wait!

You heard me announce that we would be following the Manchester district to assist with delays or school closures. Please know that if I ever feel their decision does not match my best judgment, I will override that and let you know very early. I have made contact with DPW and others who are “on the ground”……..it’s not easy but I have always tried to collaborate with local officials and keep family and staff safety in mind.

Have a wonderful weekend and best of luck to our basketball teams.
